UP-Program Partnership: PharmUni and Albstadt-Sigmaringen University

In the dynamic landscape of today’s industries, the caliber of education shapes futures significantly. Recognizing this, PharmUni teamed up with Albstadt-Sigmaringen University to launch a new E-learning course as part of their UP-Program. This initiative introduced the GMP Annex 1 e-course, designed to broaden the understanding of EU pharmaceutical standards across the globe. This course has notably enhanced the capabilities of both individuals and organizations within the pharmaceutical and medical technology sectors.

Background:

Launched in 2020 by Zamann Pharma Support GmbH, PharmUni is a trailblazer in e-learning for the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries. The platform delivers a spectrum of courses on GXP topics, compliance, and quality management standards, supported by Pharmuni Business, a robust recruitment tool.

This underscores its dual mission of fostering education and career progression. Since 1971, Albstadt-Sigmaringen University has made its mark with its comprehensive applied sciences programs, driven by a tradition of academic rigor and innovation, particularly through its Faculty of Life Sciences and contributions from Professor Andreas Schmidt.

Partnership Objectives:

PharmUni initiated this collaboration with goals to mesh educational offerings tightly with the latest in industry standards and regulatory shifts. The partners crafted the GMP Annex 1 e-course with several ambitions:

  1. To deliver superior educational content.
  2. To uplift industry practices within the pharmaceutical field.
  3. To make education on EU regulatory standards accessible globally.
  4. To provide innovative e-learning materials, complete with assessments and certifications
  5. To pioneer models for future synergies between educational bodies and industry front-runners.
Development Process:

The course development was carefully managed by PharmUni’s Group Manager, Candice Zarei and E-learning architect Michelle McCarthy.

The initial phase involved a detailed survey with SME Professor Andreas Schmid to identify key industry terms and processes, problems that currently exist with the topic in the industry, and current gaps between what people are doing in this topics versus what they should be doing. This survey laid the groundwork for clear learning objectives, which were followed by the drafting of a detailed course outline, content creation, and iterative reviews to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Online spaces where used to facilitate collaboration, while sophisticated e-course publishing tools where used to design and output the enriched educational experience.

The well-established E-learning content development processes at PharmUni enabled a seamless integration of academic knowledge from the university, highlighting the structured and effective approach of PharmUni.

Outcomes and Impact:

Since its launch on April 14, the GMP Annex 1 E-learning course has enrolled over 600 participants worldwide, indicating its relevance and appeal. Enrollment numbers are steadily increasing. The course has received positive feedback for making EU regulatory standards more accessible on a global scale and for improving the quality of practices in the pharmaceutical industry. Participants have noted the course’s effectiveness in clarifying complex regulations and enhancing their professional understanding.

Future Prospects:

The positive reception of the GMP Annex 1 course has laid a strong foundation for ongoing contributions to global pharmaceutical practices through education. And, encouraged by the success of this project, PharmUni is looking forward to exploring further opportunities for collaboration with educational and industry partners to deliver E-learning content.
